New Magic Product and Event Pricing

Starting on Friday, May 3rd, 2019, GameKnight will be adjusting some of our pricing for new Magic product and our weekly Magic events.

As much as we strive to avoid increasing prices, the sad fact of the matter is that the industry has seen a series of changes in distribution and pricing, and it is no longer feasible to maintain our previous pricing.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

As of the release of War of the Spark, the following prices will be adjusted:

War of the Spark Boosters: $5.99 + tax

Monday Canadian Highlander: $8

Tuesday Commander: $8

Friday Night Magic Draft: $20

Saturday Night Modern: $8

The prizing structure for these events will remain unchanged. However, we will be adjusting our Prize Vouchers to stay in line with our new entry fees, as follows:

One Prize Voucher can be exchanged for either one TCG booster of $5.99 value or lower, -OR- $6 in card singles credit.

This change will be retroactive, so all Prize Vouchers currently in circulation will be exchangeable for the above new values.

A number of contributing factors have driven us to make this decision:

In July 2018, the Government of Canada introduced tariffs affecting, among many things, the imports of playing cards into Canada. This added 10% to all such products, including Magic.

In August 2018, Wizards of the Coast (WOTC) ended their direct distribution to retailers, which had been the most affordable place for retailers to purchase Magic product.

Most recently, the wholesale costs for the upcoming War of the Spark set is significantly higher than previously.
