Week 13 - Dec 9 Final League night! Best 60 Card League Pool
Bounty
- Top/bottom will be decided by attendance. We will have a top 3 / bottom 3 if there are 15 people or less, and a top 4 / bottom 4 if there are more than 15 people.
- When a middle player beats a top player, they shall receive 1 additional point per game win.
- When a bottom player beats a middle player, they shall receive 1 additional point per game win.
- When a bottom player beats a top player, they shall receive 2 additional points per game as well as give -1 point to all players in the top for that evening per match win.
- Bounty comes into play on Week 5.
Attendance
For weeks 1 6 all players shall receive 2 points for showing up to league. For weeks 7 13 the top half of league shall receive 1 point for showing up and the bottom half shall receive 3 points for showing up. Additionally, all players will receive a 30-card starter deck of their choice to add to their pool at the BEGINNING of the 8th week that they attend.
Trading
Trades will be made available on week 5. All players may trade up to 2 cards in/out per night. Trades do NOT carry over between weeks. Trades must be made only on Thursday.
Rochester Draft
The end of the night Rochester draft shall be done from bottom to top for that night randomly based on DCI tournament points (meaning that if 5 people went 0 - 3 for the night they will be the first 5 to pick but it will be random as to who goes first). Running from weeks 9 - 12 there will also be random face down cards from throughout magic's history, and a reduced number of packs in the Rochester Draft.
Consolation Points
Each time a player loses a match they shall receive 1 Consolation Point. They may trade these in for a variety of helpful prizes:
5 points Buy 1 extra pack for the night to add to your league pool
7 points Receive 1 additional trade slot for the night
9 points Have a committee member help you build your deck and explain how to make a cohesive and consistent deck
Rebuy
If you believe your league pool is absolutely horrible, you may rebuy ONCE only at the END of Week 4. This means set aside your current league pool, and rebuy the same week 1 and week 4 packs, and you choosing the additional 4 that could be added for weeks 2 & 3 (you get 1 Lorwyn, 1 Shadowmoor, 1 Shards of Alara, 1 Zendikar, 2 Magic 2011, 3 Scars of Mirrodin and 4 packs of your choice).
Sideboards
Sideboards must be fifteen cards or zero and may be used on all nights except those which state otherwise.
Special League Nights
Week 2 King of the Hill
We will play with 1 or 2 hills depending on attendance (for each 10 people there will be 1 hill). We will play ten 15 minute rounds. Each player plays 1 game and if they win they move a table closer to the King table at their current hill. If you win a game at the King table you receive 1 additional point and remain there. King Table points only begin on the 3rd game of the night. If you lose at the King table you move to the bottom of the next hill. No sideboards will be used.
Week 3 Two-Headed Giant
We will split the players into 2 tiers: A and B (based on points). We will randomly match up a tier A player and a tier B player. The first game played will be worth 6 points and will be a regular 2HG game. The next game will match the tier A players from each team and the tier B players against each other (A plays A, B plays B). This match is worth 3 points.
Week 5 Permanent Magic
Decks may not include sorceries or instants.
Week 7 Minimaster
Buy any 3 packs available from Gameknight (that are not silver bordered). For match 1, open 1 pack FACE DOWN and remove the token/hint card. Shuffle in 3 of each basic land. Play with that deck for match 1. All players have 1 Feldons Cane (you may shuffle your graveyard into your library) to be used at any time (it doesnt use the stack). Players are not allowed to mulligan. For match 2, open your next pack FACE DOWN and shuffle it into your deck and add 1 more of each basic land. For match 3, open your final pack FACE DOWN and shuffle it into your deck, along with 1 more of each basic land. Your deck size should look like this (roughly): Round 1 30(14 cards/16 land) ; Round 2 50 (28 cards/22 land) ; Round 3 70 (42 cards/28 land). No sideboards will be used.
Week 8 Pauper
All decks must include only cards which are common (in the set of the card you have). This means that you may use Act of Treason from 2011 but not from 2010.
Week 9 Teamplay
Teams will be decided in the same way as for Two-Headed Giant. You sit diagonally across from your teammate. Play as a normal multiplayer game, with each team receiving 3 points for knocking out a member of the opposing team. You may not communicate in any hidden way with your teammate (although open talking is allowed). Afterwards, play a second game, once again matching up players A vs A and B vs B. This is worth 3 points. For the purpose of card ruling all three other players will be considered opponents.
Week 10 Five Colour Night
All decks must include 7 cards of each colour (gold/hybrid only count for 1 colour) and must include 5 of each basic land type. Minimum deck size is 60.
Week 11 Odd or Even
All players build two minimum 60 card decks; one using only cards with an even casting cost, and one using only cards with an odd casting cost (casting cost of 0 is considered even). Cards with no casting cost (lands among others) may be used in either. That night it shall randomly be decided which deck you will use at the beginning of EACH GAME (your opponent will flip a coin for you). You MAY NOT switch cards between your decks. No sideboards will be used.
Week 12 Highlander
All decks must be at least 100 cards, and may only contain 1 copy of any card that is not a basic land. No sideboards will be used.
